Summary

Felix Love has never been in love - and, yes, he's painfully aware of the irony。 He desperately wants to know what it's like and why it seems so easy for everyone but him to find someone。 What's worse is that, even though he is proud of his identity, Felix also secretly fears that he's one marginalisation too many - Black, queer and transgender - to ever get his own happily-ever-after。

When an anonymous student begins sending him transphobic messages - after publicly posting Felix's deadname alongside images of him before he transitioned - Felix comes up with a plan for revenge。 What he didn't count on: his catfish scenario landing him in a quasi-love triangle 。 。 。

But as he navigates his complicated feelings, Felix begins a journey of questioning and self-discovery that helps redefine his most important relationship: how he feels about himself。

Felix Ever After is an honest and layered story about identity, falling in love, and recognising the love you deserve。

I loved this! The characters felt very true and real, and I loved that Felix found acceptance for himself and—separately—a wonderful, affirming relationship by the end。 There was a bit much of the obsession with who posted his photos and a lot of debating his own feelings about his love interests, but that also felt true to my memories of what it felt like to be a teen。

There are too many layers to this book to be able to fit into a short review。 The story of Felix is the epitome of the LBB mission to broaden cultural perspectives。 While considered a young adult book, it is insightful enough to transition to adults of all ages。 There's the expected "teen drama," yet the emotion is real about the struggle for acceptance, relationships, and ones future。 The addition of a parents perspective makes the storyline even more charming。 The author keeps the feel light-h There are too many layers to this book to be able to fit into a short review。 The story of Felix is the epitome of the LBB mission to broaden cultural perspectives。 While considered a young adult book, it is insightful enough to transition to adults of all ages。 There's the expected "teen drama," yet the emotion is real about the struggle for acceptance, relationships, and ones future。 The addition of a parents perspective makes the storyline even more charming。 The author keeps the feel light-hearted enough to entertain the reader and still drives the point that "We're too preoccupied hurting each other。" 。。。more

Very messy, very queer, very cute ending。 I loved so much about this:-Lots of representation of a whole range of gender, sexual, and racial identities。-Felix was such a good character, ahhhh-Real exploration of the messiness surrounding identity/labels -Very good at pointing out that being marginalized yourself doesn't automatically make you a good person/without fault + very good at exploring intersectionality and privilege within marginalized groups (specifically in this story: white gay men, Very messy, very queer, very cute ending。 I loved so much about this:-Lots of representation of a whole range of gender, sexual, and racial identities。-Felix was such a good character, ahhhh-Real exploration of the messiness surrounding identity/labels -Very good at pointing out that being marginalized yourself doesn't automatically make you a good person/without fault + very good at exploring intersectionality and privilege within marginalized groups (specifically in this story: white gay men, TERFs)。 -Cute queer love story helloTW for bullying, transphobia, getting outed。 。。。more

This wasn't the novel that I'd hoped it'd be。 I've always wanted to read a story from the perspective of a Trans person and I picked this one up。 Almost everyone seems to have loved this book。 But I somehow didn't。 I didn't like many of the characters in this book。 I also didn't really enjoy the love triangle and all the fluctuations。 Considering that the lead is 17, a lot of things just didn't make sense。 This wasn't the novel that I'd hoped it'd be。 I've always wanted to read a story from the perspective of a Trans person and I picked this one up。 Almost everyone seems to have loved this book。 But I somehow didn't。 I didn't like many of the characters in this book。 I also didn't really enjoy the love triangle and all the fluctuations。 Considering that the lead is 17, a lot of things just didn't make sense。 。。。more

I loved how messy and human the characters were in this novel。 I really appreciated the relationship between Felix and his father, how realistic the issues between them were。 Callender hits the nail on the head with the nuances in queer and trans identities, and how race and class impact the ways in which we navigate our identities and interact with each other within the LGBTQ community。 I also appreciate the vulnerability written into the character of Felix, these constant feelings he expresses I loved how messy and human the characters were in this novel。 I really appreciated the relationship between Felix and his father, how realistic the issues between them were。 Callender hits the nail on the head with the nuances in queer and trans identities, and how race and class impact the ways in which we navigate our identities and interact with each other within the LGBTQ community。 I also appreciate the vulnerability written into the character of Felix, these constant feelings he expresses of somehow being "behind" or "not enough" in who he is。 Many young trans people feel as though everyone else has their "aha moment" and they are the only one who doesn't fully know who they are and what they want。 It is so beautiful to see a transition story that is all under the transgender umbrella。 This is a beautiful and impactful story, in all its beautiful messiness。 Also, this book made me ugly cry and I couldn't put it down for the last half of it。 It's just so darn tender。 。。。more

I absolutely LOVED this book! I read a copy from the library but intend to buy my own copy for my personal collection。 The whole thing was so thoughtful, introspective, complex, beautiful, insightful, funny, and emotionally touching。 Felix was such a beautiful character。 I really loved reading from his perspective。 Additionally, Ezra had some of the best quotes in the whole book。 Last, Declan was such a brilliantly complicated character and I loved him。 Honestly, I would recommend this book to e I absolutely LOVED this book! Amazing book。 Felt a very good connection with the main character and sympathised for him when things went south。 The side characters were very enjoyable too。

DNF @ 20% This is boring, the characters do nothing but hate on each other (is this how the author thinks teenagers truly are?), there’s a lot of HP references, like A LOT。

Oh man。 I wanted to love this book。 The ideas are phenomenal but the execution was so lacking。 The complete amount of "tell" and no "show" made a lot of the book feel like I was reading a teen's journal - which could have been an interesting narration style!- but wasn't what was happening here。 Character's behavior seemed to come out of nowhere - (view spoiler)[ Why did Ezra throw a midnight weekday party right after his best friend has shown up at his house needing support? I honestly raced back to finish it。 Was it because I simply had to know how the nonsense panned out rather than actually enjoying it? Mostly。 But even for the things that I didn't enjoy (too many outfit descriptions, a copious amount of fandom references, Gay Culture TM music references), I am really thankful that some teen or tween out there has this book while they're growing up。 It wasn't my taste, but I'm glad this book is out there for someone else to have to see themselves in。 。。。more

I loved this YA novel。 I thought it was an insightful look into the life of a trans teen and addressed many of the experiences and challenges that are a “normal” part of a unique existence。

This book is by far the best I have read all year。 First of all, I would kill to have Ezra and Felix's friendship。 Second, I learned so much about sexuality, what it means to belong, the importance of identity and self expression from this book。 I have never read from the perspective of a trans man and I think it is such a good book for allies of the LGBTQ community who want to learn more about the trans/queer experience。 I think Felix is such a lovable character and it was so easy to get attach This book is by far the best I have read all year。 First of all, I would kill to have Ezra and Felix's friendship。 Second, I learned so much about sexuality, what it means to belong, the importance of identity and self expression from this book。 I have never read from the perspective of a trans man and I think it is such a good book for allies of the LGBTQ community who want to learn more about the trans/queer experience。 I think Felix is such a lovable character and it was so easy to get attached to。 。。。more

4。5Loved this book! I felt like this book was just going to be super predictable for the first third or so。It was still predictable in parts, but I still loved it。 Loved all the small little references it had。Could easily relate to and feel attached to characters。 I know if I had read this in high schould I would have been OBSEDSSED。

Rounded up from 3。5, powerful and important for young adults! The pacing was a bit off at times and some of the conversations felt more like a lesson than how people actually talk but would still be very helpful for young readers to experience。

This book was beautiful。 It was one of the most heartfelt books I’ve ever read。 It gives such amazing topics on gender and identify and just overall they everyone is beautiful in their own way。 They author did such a wonderful job on writing the main character and personally the second to last apter is my favorite。 So, if your looking for a good book for Pride month or for a heartfelt read, or an overall amazing book, I definitely recommend Felix Ever After

Oh。 My。 Goodness。I just read one of the most phenomenal books written。Okay, Felix Ever After。 Review time ya'll。 Let's do this!!Characters: Felix: The beautiful protagonist。 Felix is a transmale and he started transitioning at around 12。 In the book he was targeted after someone put up pictures of his old Instagram before his transition and spread around his deadname。 I feel like I can relate to Felix in one way。 I'm demiboy and I hate when my deadname is used。 But I have to endure :3Felix now h Oh。 My。 Goodness。I just read one of the most phenomenal books written。Okay, Felix Ever After。 Review time ya'll。 Let's do this!!Characters: Felix: The beautiful protagonist。 Felix is a transmale and he started transitioning at around 12。 In the book he was targeted after someone put up pictures of his old Instagram before his transition and spread around his deadname。 I feel like I can relate to Felix in one way。 I'm demiboy and I hate when my deadname is used。 But I have to endure :3Felix now has to figure out who's behind this along with the help of his best friend (and maybe more~?)
